Filing IDS's through EFS
(revised July 3, 2003)
Renee M. Street <rstreet@bellboyd.com> suggests:
I have successfully used a previous 5.1 IDS in another 5.1 filing.
-
First, create your new IDS submission.
-
Close ePAVE.
-
Delete the idst.xml file from the newly created submission folder.
-
Copy the idst.xml file from the previous submission folder into the newly created submission folder.
-
Rename the xml file in the new folder to match the name used in that folder.
-
Reopen ePAVE and the IDS screen should be completed.
I have used this procedure twice and both times have successfully submitted the new IDS filings.
Anoiel N. Khorshid <anoiel@hollp.com> suggests:
To use a previously filed IDS as a "template" for a new filing using EPAVE 5.1, try the following:
-
Start EPAVE and create a new IDS submission (like you would normally do).
-
Input the common data elements (inventor, application no., confirm no., etc.) for this new submission.
-
Save your new file and close EPAVE.
-
Using windows explorer, go to the directory folder were your previously filed "template" IDS and associated files are located.
-
Find the file name ***usidst.xml (the *** is what you named the original filing).
-
Copy this file.
-
Using windows explorer, go to the directory folder were your newly filed IDS and associated files are located.
-
Find the file name ****usidst.xml (the **** is what you named the new filing).
-
Delete this file.
-
Paste the file you copied in step 5 into the folder containing your newly filed IDS.
-
Rename the copied filed from ***usidst.xml (original filing) to ****usidst.xml (new filing).
-
Reopen EPAVE.
-
Verify that the transfer worked and resave the file.
